Montezuma was founded in 1865 following the discovery of silver in the vicinity. This former mining camp is now a lovely historic town with a great mix of newer homes tucked into the mountains sides and classic historical buildings lining the unpaved streets. Montezuma is a recreation dream location all year-round; in the summer take part in outstanding hiking with emerald water and wild flowers, mountain biking, hiking, dirt biking, and four wheeling. The winters are filled with tremendous snowmobiling and backcountry ski access, in addition to being 15 minutes away from Keystone, the largest and most family-friendly ski resort in Summit County.
